Optimising urban landscapes in response to climate change for health promotion

Description

Urban heat has significantly affected not only physical but also mental well-being. Numerous studies have highlighted its impacts on physical health, such as thermal comfort, heat stroke, and heat-related mortality. Recent research has also demonstrated the impacts on mental well-being, like a positive correlation between elevated temperatures and irritability. How can we mitigate the negative impacts on mental health from a design perspective is challenging and urgent for many cities, like Singapore. The project will develop an innovative decision-making framework to optimise urban landscape for urban heat mitigation and mental health promotion. It will explore the relationship between urban heat, urban landscape and mental well-being, and automate the generation and optimization of design scenarios for human well-being.
