Biophilic Benchmarking & Ecosystem Modelling

Title

Biophilic Benchmarking: Advancing Landscape Design Through Ecosystem Modelling

Description

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Biophilic Town Framework in enhancing the landscape performance of residential precincts, focusing on heat mitigation, noise abatement, habitat provision, recreation, visual relief, surface runoff, water quality, soil erosion, and maintenance. While the Biophilic Town Framework has been developed and applied in some precincts, its actual performance remains unassessed. The performance varies across the landscape features, maintainability, and site context within different precincts, making it challenging for local agencies to provide well-informed design recommendations due to uncertainty about which areas deliver higher benefits.
